The Seven Beacons Foundation was first conceptualized during the summer of 2008 by the Alpha Sigma Chapter's newly elected President Delia Askew (Harris).  The Alpha Sigma Chapter is the Indianapolis, IN alumnae chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated and is the first and oldest chapter in the organization.  Ms. Harris desired to strengthen the chapter by establishing a 501c3 dedicated to identifying corporate sponsorships and grants towards enhancing the scholarship opportunities and service span in Indianapolis.  During her two terms as President, the name of the Foundation was determined along with the initial draft of the By-laws.
